Automatic Emergency Braking
Automatic Emergency Braking is the ultimate expression of intelligent or 'Cognitive' safety. This system combines advanced driver assist systems and electronic stability control to slow down the vehicle and potentially mitigate the severity of an impact when a collision is unavoidable. Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) works with or without driver intervention if a crash is determined to be inevitable.
AEB combines forward looking radar and video sensor data to provide a complet, accurate and real-time picture of the road ahead. TRW's system can use long or medium range radar in combination with a video camera to gather data up to 200 meters ahead.
When a collision is determined to be unavoidable, autonomous emergency braking with maximum brake pressure will be applied to help mitigate the impact.
