TRW is developing its Integrated Chassis & Safety Unit (ICSU), a central sensing and control unit for ride and stability control, as well as driver assistance and occupant safety systems. This module contains all inertial sensors near the vehicle’s center of gravity and includes crash-sensing capability as well.   In addition, it can host various software modules from vehicle manufacturers or third parties.

The TRW Integrated Chassis & Safety Unit offers up to 6 Degrees of Freedom (DoF), a hardware platform and high-speed communication via Flexray. This configuration is ideal for sophisticated chassis and driver assist control, including sensor fusion inputs from camera, radar and additional active safety sensors, to give a complete picture of the driving environment.
