Single Stage

The single stage inflator has evolved significantly since airbag systems were introduced more than 30 years ago.  Performance enhancements, new types of gas generation systems and the wide variety of ways these inflators must be packaged within vehicles are all challenges that TRW continues to meet with it's full complement of inflator designs.

Dual Stage

TRW;s dual stage inflators are an important element in today's advanced occupant safety systems.  These inflators help to tailor the protection based on the circumstances of a frontal crash.

Dual stage inflators, which have been widely introduced, are among the latest safety innovations of the last decade.  These inflators allow airbag deployment to be tailored to crash severity, occupant size and other factors based on the types of sensing information available within the vehicle's occupant safety system.

DI-10 Single/Dual Stage Inflator Family

TRW's DI-10 disk-type inflator family provides single or dual stage configurations for typical driver airbag applications.  The DI-10 inflators are also being used for passenger airbag applications that require volumes between 80 and 130 liters.  This small sized inflator provides flexible packaging with a standard diameter of 63mm.  The DI-10 inflators are lightweight with 350g for driver side and up to 550g for passenger side applications.
