Adaptive Cruise Control

To bring systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control to mid-range as well as higher end vehicles, TRW has developed a mid-range radar sensor using a 24GHz ISM frequency band. This sensor enables ACC function in an effective control range up to 100m, which is sufficient for most traffic situations.

Enhanced Safety Functions

Offering functions such as distance and collision warning, the AC100 with an improved waveform allows enhanced fixed-obstacle detection, which is essential for Follow-to-Stop.

The Collision Mitigation Braking (CMB) function is designed to help drivers avoid collisions at speeds up to 20kph, as well as to reduce the impact speed by 20kph when the vehicle is traveling at higher speeds.

Enhanced Functionality

TRW's new cost-optimized, smaller sensor, the AC3b, provides additional functions such as distance and collision warning, as well as enhanced fixed-obstacle detection - required for Follow-to-Stop. In critical situations, this sensor also enables Collision Mitigation Braking by reducing vehicle speed by 20kph with limited deceleration.
