Active Dynamic Control
Component PDF:
TRW’s Active Dynamic Control (ADC) system helps eliminate the need to compromise handling and comfort. The solution to the dilemma is to replace the rigid drop link at one end of the stabilizer bars with electro-hydraulically controlled actuators. The system controls the front and rear stabilizer bar forces independently and continuously. Coupled with an hydraulic active suspension system, it produces active anti-roll moments, as well as adjustable anti-roll moment distribution.

ADC undertakes seven basic functions to aid vehicle safety and performance:
- Active Roll Control – Roll angle compensation or reduction during cornering.
- Adaptive Understeering – Adaption of roll torque distribution, dependent on vehicle state.
- Predictive Stabilization – Closed loop yaw rate control via reference model or Electronic Stability Control integration.
- Active Roll Damping – Active damping when body movement is detected.
- Stabilizer Bar Decoupling – Improved ride comfort in straight-ahead and cornering conditions.
- Off-road Improvement – Decoupled stabilizer bar leading to better performance in off-road conditions.
- Vehicle Load Adaption – Adaption of controller dependent on vehicle load estimation.
