Mechanical Brake Assist

TRW's Mechanical Brake Assist (MBA) system improves vehicle stopping distances. Working together with TRW's anti-lock braking system, MBA provides improved stopping distances possible while incorporating enhanced reliability with a space saving design. Brake Assist is designed to sense when a driver applies the brakes in an emergency situation and activates an electronic booster that fully employs the ABS.
Features
  • Electro-hydraulic pressure generated by ESC system
  • Vehicle stabilization by ESC in case of emergency HPB activation while driving
  • Lower current consumption of HPB actuator results in lower system noise
  • No pressure re-apply required for release – improves release time over competitive systems
  • Integration of automatic hold, hill assist/drive-away and other EPB functioanlity included
  • Increased clamp force possible (e.g. light trucks)
