TRW's Collision Warning Systems can assist drivers by helping to prevent or mitigate accidents. Combining long and short range radars with a video camera, TRW's Collision Warning monitors the road ahead. In the event that a vehicle or obstacle approaches, TRW's collision warning system can notify the driver of a possible collision through audible or visual alerts and can also pre-fill the braking system to provide full brake force (Emergency Brake Assistant) as soon as the driver applies the brakes. The radar based trigger function can also be used to pre-arm airbags or pre-tension seatbelts in order to correctly set up the vehicle should a collision be imminent.   Figure 1 Vehicle cruises along the highway, TRW’s Collision Warning System monitors vehicles in the lanes ahead.
