TRW is building on its innovative driver assist product portfolio by adding a traffic jam assistant stop and go functionality to its Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system. Using the ACC long range radar, Traffic Jam Assistant allows the ACC vehicle to follow a target to stop and upon driver command follow that target in traffic jam situations. Stop and Go uses additional short range radars to cover a wider field in front of the ACC vehicle. ACC Stop and Go permits the ACC vehicle to automatically follow its target in a traffic jam situation.   Figure 1 The ACC vehicle approaches a target vehicle and begins to react to it.   Figure 2 Traffic Jam Assistant follows the target vehicle to a complete stop.
