TRW’s driver and passenger side airbags are an integral part of the full protection system for occupants in the front seating positions. Located in the steering wheel or front dashboard, these airbags inflate to help provide protection from frontal automotive collisions.   When a collision occurs, crash sensors located in the vehicle help determine the severity of the crash and send information to the airbag electronic control unit. If the crash severity exceeds a predetermined limit, an electrical current will be sent to the inflator located within the airbag module to initiate a deployment and inflate the airbag. Additionally, TRW airbag systems can tailor the airbag deployment for varying passenger sizes and situations.
