Electrically Assisted Steering
TRW Automotive's Electrically Assisted Steering (EAS) technology eliminates power draw from the engine and only uses power when demanded, at the same time reducing the need for Hydraulic Power Steering (HPS) systems. EAS's energy consumption reduction is approximately 75-85 percent versus conventional HPS.
- Electric Powered Hydraulic Steering (EPHS) offers fuel and emissions benefits in an affordable way. It's "between" full electric and standard hydraulic powered steering; EPHS has been in production for more than 13 years, and it's a proven technology. This product is ideal for larger and light commercial vehicle applications. Heavier rack loads are not a problem and durability for high-idle and cycle usage are driving demand.
TRW's Roewe mild hybrid vehicle is an excellent example of the company's EPHS technology, where there are new developments on the value line EPHS system for A/B segment vehicles.
